My Digital Story: Planning

In order to create this digital story I did not really need a story map in the traditional sense. What I needed was to research my family tree, and to interview my mother in order to discover details of my grandfathers life. I never met my grandfather so I was not able to ask him myself. With students it would be ideal to have them speak directly with their grandparents. It is always an amazing thing to write down your family tree and to discover the history of your grandparents. I learned some things about my grandfather that I did not know. Creating a family tree made me realize how many lives went into the creation of me. From this one grandfather our family will soon expand into 14 grandchildren! This document was hard to plan because at first I did not have a real focus to my piece. It was more of a slide show about my grandfather and my family and it was impersonal. I had to do two drafts in order to create a better project. I hope that the final draft, while it is too long, shows how I am connected to my grandfather and what he means to me.
